 Personal Narrative

I was born and raised in Arizona and have decided to make my life here as well.  I graduated from Desert Vista High School, from there went on to Paradise Valley Community College to obtain my AA and transfered to Arizona State University.  I am projected to graduate in May 2011 and am looking forward to the many possibilities and opportunities this will bring to me and my family.  After looking at the many different opportunities that Arizona State University has to offer I came across the School of Letters and Sciences.  They offer a degree program called Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies.  By choosing to enter into this degree I was able to choose from a long list of concentration areas.  I made the desicion to incorporate Business as well as Communications to create my unique BIS degree.  I have worked within the business world since I was 17 years old.  Starting in high school I was involved in a business work program that allowed me to complete my classes by noon then leave campus to work towards credits.  I worked as a receptionist for a psychiatrist, I was involved in scheduling appointments, filing, walking patients in and out, handling phone calls, as well as speaking with pharmaceutical reps.  Communication skills were key when handling situations that would arise as well as taking phone calls for the doctor.  When my internship was complete I decided that I would like to stay within the business world.  I found an assistant maketing position within C. Myers were I was able to expand my skills and knowledge of communication.  This was an amazing experience for me to understand the time and thought that goes into each individual mass mailing to reach potential clients.  When I graduated from high school I decided to attend Paradise Valley Community College, I was unable to sustain the commute to and from C. Myers, so I had to part ways.  I found an amazing opportunity allowing me to work with the Fiest Bowl in the Team Services Department.  I was involved in putting together informational booklets for each team, purchasing gifts, communicating with band and cheer directors in regards to housing while in Arizona as well as viewing practice facilities, ensuring every individual we come in contact with are treated as your number one priority, scheduling events and cordinating transportation for children to attend while in Arizona, and much more.  Continuing to gain experience as well as extensive business and communication skills.  We now own a small business called Solar Technical Solutions.  At this time in my life I made the decision to start extending our family and devote my time and focus on my kids as well as finishing out my BIS degree.  My main goal at this time is graduating from Arizona State University.  I feel I have been fortunate within my journey through life to be able to have gained the knowledge and experience that has been put infront of me to help me succeed towards my business career goals.
